sounds like my kind of ridin - I'm running 21/42 gears with 151" - 2" ported, finger camo track. She never poops out in the deep. Seems to work very well.

shoot for anything 2:1 or more, with the biggest top gear you can run. at your altitude i would push closer to 2.25:1. if you have 8t drivers, you need to factor this into the equation. i have a chart somewhere that shows this. also, check for chain length, as some combos require 68 link and some 70 link. if your sled gearing worked well with the 144, your probably still good on the 151.

I ran a 20/40 or a 21/40 on my stock 151 viper at those elevations and it worked good. I had hartman do the clutching and that is what made the difference.

Set a buddy of mine's up with 19/42 and 9 tooths with a 159. Worked well. I'd go 21/42 or 22 so with 8's and a 151.

I run 21/40 and weigh in at 173 lbs naked and carry about 26# of survival gear.. Never needed lower than that.

19/42 with 9's = 2.21 ratio, 21/42 with 8's = 2.26, and 22/42 with 8's = 2.16
21/40 with 8's (I'm guessing that's what you have) = 2.15 so really it makes no difference. Just depends on what drivers and which gears you have lying around
