I picked up a 99 SRX last year and started riding again after 10 years; I forgot how much I love it, but I have defiantly been out of the loop for awhile.
The only problem I have with the sled is the suspension, as soon as I sit on it it bottoms out; feels like I am riding a tank only at 90 mph across the lake. I have been doing some looking around and it seems the stock mono-shock skid in this sled is notorious for a bad ride, so I need an upgrade before another disk slips out my back. I'm not sure about the rear spring but I now fronts are Ohlins; probably need a little TLC and a rebuild.
I don't really want to stick the money of an M-10 in the sled, but I came across a '01 Polaris edge skid. I heard these are comparable to M-10 but I am not sure if I can use it or what mods I would to put it in to make it fit. Can anybody please help with suggestions or alternatives? Is this worth the wrench time? How would I do it?
Any thoughts, links, or sites would greatly appreciated.

ive herd you need to lift the front too if you lift the back. you can do a serch and get all the info you need. im shur you can bolt that up with little mods to your chasie. maby a few new holes. ive herd of all kinds of suspentions under thease beast. hope this helps a little.
Your suspension is not a mono-shock skid, it has 2 shocks.
An Edge skid would be a great improvement over the stock Pro-action. But it sounds like you may just need a good going-over on the one you have. Springs may need replacing, shocks may need re-building etc.
Most suspension can be built to your style and weight
How much do you weigh and what type of rider are you? Agressive bump lover, laid back trail cruiser or off trail deep snow boondocker?
I put a Cat skid in mine and works really well for my type of riding and my weight(150lb). But I tend to look for the bumps.

I have put an edge in my srx along with a few other guys on here. What a difference! Would never ride a srx with stock skid again. If you do some searches on it you`ll find plenty of info on the install.
Ya, that sled didn't come with a mono shock. Are you saying there is one in there or do you just have the wrong name applied to it???
The edge skid install isn't too hard to do, and pretty cheap if you look around long enough to find a deal on the skid. You can also sell your stock skid and get some $$ back. There are quite a few people who could help you with the install, including myself. I have a work log thread showing a step by step install of my IQ skid which is very similar, if you want an idea of what is involved.
Well thanks all for the reply, you guys are badass in my book. The sled is actually a 98 SRX; may explain the confusion about the mono-shock skid. To be honest I have been so busy working on house and car all summer I have even looked under tunnel, I am just listening to what my sledhead brother tells me (I haven't turned him BLUE yet he still screws around with the Cat so he may not know his *** from his head with this sled). Turns out the guy is not sure if he wants to unload the edge skid for $250. What do you think about the price considering it is good shape no rust?
I haven't really figured out my riding style but I do know some of local trails get pretty beat up so even if I am not looking for moguls I get them anyway. I am planning a trip up to the UP this year for some fresh powder which is the concern about the stance of sled my current sled, but I won't be able to pick up MM 700 until spring. For long track sleds what do you guys think about MM 700?
My biggest problem with the Proaction is I am 6'4" about 300# after a good duecer. Last year I put a 4" Handlebar riser on, and I built an aluminum seat riser that goes from 1" at gas tank to 6" in the rear for higher forward riding stance (saves on the forearms from balls to wall trying pull myself back on the seat after the skis get back on the ground). I have pics but girlfriend stashed em so let me know if any of you are curious to see the seat riser and I will post.
If the edge falls through I have another crazy idea; I work in a stainless steel plant and one of our divisions builds tanker trailers. I came across trailer airbag in the scrap bin so I am in the process of penciling some blueprints to mount the air ride bag with a pump and valve between the seat and tunnel for added "cushion". Down side is this semi-trailer air bag tall is with a 6" bottom out and a 9" ride height; means my seat will be on a huge sloping slant. Long shot but I may be able to make it work, if not I am going to look into finding a shorter air bag.
You guys know any good internet spots to pick up some quality cheap snow gear? I could a jacket and some boots. Also does anyone have specific sites or search phrases where I could direction for switching suspensions? I looked around a little didn't hit anything.

One other thing quick, my valves have a little carbon on them. Brother said take them out use oven cleaner to clean. Is that a good idea? Do I have to get them adjusted if I take them out? Sorry, but I have never been much of an engine guy so I am learning; I just build stuff.
