I was just looking at a 1973 sled with a 433R fan cooled engine.
Is that a common engine. I was expecting a 433Y or 433S.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks- Bear

Not familiar with that designation right off hand. Is that off the cylinder or the fan housing?

Thats off the cylinder.
It has me a bit confused too.
There is no marking on the crank housing under the carb, where it usually is.
Maybe I found a rare super powered fan beast :die:

these are not that rare but i have had a lot of yamis. i have seen these in early gp's and my 74 sno jet sst has an "r" motor in it. i assume they were a little better cylinder, my dads 71 race motor was an "r" motor ported and polished, equaled a 71 433ss sled after the port work. the ss433 was twin carb twin pipe and i belive 36 or 38 hp, i have the original manual around somewere with the hp ratings.

71 SS 433 was 40 hp @ 6500 rpm. Mine was set-up by Bob Work of Yamaha-Motor Canada with SR clutch spring, SR track and would spank my 80 SS 440! Don't recall what the numbers were on the side? G.
