I tired of a sore back while riding on long trips with my buddies on the lakes I blow by them like they've stopped on the trails after a bit my back starts to take a pounding.
So enough wining
What's the best way to increase the amount of rear suspsenion travel I have on this lake bullet I have. I've spoken to a few guys on the trail that tell me its possible to do however never got the info.
Thanks

I did it to my 00 SRX. Man what a difference! On the rear skid frame I installed shocks out of an RX-1. You can use Viper shocks however, the mounting is a little different (just the bushings that are installed). I'm sorry I can't remember all the details but it was not hard to do at all. I was able to get some relocation brackets for the front shocks from Hauck Power Sports Inc. Maxximum also sells the brackets as well as a long travel kit. If a buddy has a Viper you can use it as a reference. That is how I did it. I can try to help if you have specific questions. The guys on this site are great and will do anything to help.

Thanks for the info how much of an increase did you get with the shock change ovver?
And I was also thinking of putting a long track under the sled as well to smoothen out the ride.
Any thoughts on this idea.
Thanks

I think it gives you about 2 more inches of travel. (9"-11") don't qoute me on that. I know it made one hell of difference on my SRX. Last year my back could only take a couple hours on rough trails. The last trip we rode after I did the longer shocks I could ride all day. I love that SRX but I was seriously looking to trade it off. Now I'll keep it!
As far as a 136" I myself have never ridden one. I hear they ride better than a 121".

Can anyone tell me if the viper shocks are a direct fit or do you have to mickey mouse them in to update a srx skid. I have a 98 and am looking to get a little plusher ride also.

If I remember right I think one of the sleds had bushings in the shocks. The other didn't. I was lucky because a friend of mine had the parts laying around. We did use Viper control rods because they were longer. Also had to bolt the control rods a little farther back. The skid frame had the holes already there so we changed to the rear mounting. On the front I bought relocation brackets for the shocks to get the sled to sit level. I bought the adjustable control rods and front shock(Front Suspension) relocation brackets from Hauck Powersports Inc. If you call them ask for Titus he can help you out. It was really an easy swap and the ride is well worth it.

long travel SRX
Do a search in here for SRX long travel, there has been many, many, of us that have done it.
What i did:
*found rear shocks from a viper (they bolt right in to the SRX) no modding anything.
*Then i got front shocks extentions from advant-edge motorsports ( i have ohlins on the front of my SRX)
* then i made up a spacer for my transfer rods (to extented them by 7.5mm)
I think on the 98-99 SRXs you have to change the limitier strape as well.
heres a few pics:

Nice Ride! Thanks for the info, from what I have been reading sounds like the way to go. Can anyone tell a huge difference between the revalved shocks?? From what I have been reading it sounds like the transfer rods from the 98 are long enough, is this correct??

My buddy installed a long travel kit on his 00 srx from pioneer motorsports. It sat at almost stock height after we installed it but rode a lot better in medium sized bumps. The only problem is once you start trying to pound threw the nasty junk,it still sucks and either your back will break or your w arm in the rear suspension.I just sold both of my srx's for this very reason, tired of watching my buddies on rev's and zr's fade away into the horizon as i try and nurse my srx threw the junk!!!!(although once we got on a lake and i blew their ski's off it was almost worth it).
