Hey guys this is my first post on this site and look forward to hearing from you. I was wondering if you guys no the hp of a 500sxr. I just picked one up and was interested to know some specs on it. Also an worth while mods to give it a little more balls. Thanks guys!
About 85 is a good number. You can to thin the head gasket, and notch the reed stoppers/or use spacers for a little more go. Good clutching is the best money you will spend on it. Welcome. Have fun.

thanks for the info! what gasket do you need to order and how do you do the reed notch? do you need to rejet? I do have a trail clutch on the way so that should help.

hold off on the head gasket. depends on the year as yamaha bumped the compression or played with the sqish in 2000-01. best bang for the buck is mbrp silencer, reed notch and vmaxjhons trail clutching set-up from the tec pages. some people will argue against the notch but i found that it made a difference on the one i had.
Yes, vmaxjohn had some really good clutch setups for that motor.
