I ran my sleds today along the property line along the field. There were some 3 feet snow drifts to plow thru, that was fun.Ran the SXR600 thru them drifts and mashed them down. Then brought out the beast ..the SRX and did some speed runs.SRX can accelerate good, but the traction sucks right now. Both sleds are at least launching at 8100 to 8200 when pinning it,so that is great. It was around -20C today and the SRX was having that high idle problem again.Last weekend it didn't.I adlusted the fuel screws to 2.5 turns out and adjusted idle screw, was better.
One thing I noticed when putting the SRX in the shed, and up on stand is that the mrginal snow wheels at the front of the rails don't want to turn.Seems like they sit put as track turns, don't like this.I think they are Max.Perf. ones where the bearings are built into them.EXCITERFAN,since I bought the skid from you,you said there is a way to remove them bearings. Is it difficult, otherwise I will just remove them wheels. The ones on my SXR are spinning good.Since adjusting track tension a few weeks back and running sled for a few miles, looks like track hang is larger now, maybe about an inch space between track and rails.I might be thinking that is to much. Will have to get the fish scale out again and re-adjust.

you want a good inch with 22 lbs on the track for proper tension, everyone has different theories on track tension.

hey yamidude,I don't want track to tight either and to loose will cause ratcheting.Like I was saying,I'll get the scale out and re-adjust and at the same time do something about them marginal wheels.I need every mph I can get...lol

yea, serious drag with those wheels not spinning. Those bearings can be repacked.

not bashing on track tension i was just saying... sorry

thanks for your help,no bashing of any kind here.Just like opinions,as there are many. Some guys run their tracks with 2 inch sag,not me...lol.Don't need my track passing me on a speed run.....lol.

hey yami...you guys got snow, because we are getting screwed this season again.I don't understand what is happening with winters anymore. We need one BIG friggin Snowstorm and soon..like 3 feet or something all at once, that will do it.Could be a bad riding season again.

ahhh! be optimistic! we got 12 inches on the ground here and 2-4 coming

Last year we had great snow too, farmers almanac was saying another big snow year.... So far its looking promising... its about time that the snow decides to fall when its supposed to in december.

Blue it sounds like you are getting pumped after hearing that old triple singing the national ampthom again.Going to fire up the beast in the east tommorro like i have for the last ten years now.I no i will be smileing too.

I am the same here it is white but if you go a hour north there is anywere from a foot to 2 foot on the ground.Started to get cold the last week so with any luck the trails will be ready for xmas.

You want more than that or you will burn up hyfax.1to 1 1/2inchs hanging is more like it. Hyfax will last for 2000 miles depending on conditions. Unless you like changing them. :o|

more snow today

we got around maybe 3 inches of fluff snow today.Had the SRX out for a bit.

I got the sled into the heated garage and checked out the track tension again.I just left it the way it was. With 16 lbs pull on the scale,I had about 1 3/8" sag.The new 7.5" rear wheels all all aligned good, not rubbing on any cogs.It took me about 4 removals of the rear axle and getting the spacers just right.Track measures about 1 3/8" out to the edge of track to the side of the hy-hax and distance on each rear wheel to edge of the track is also equal. So my track is alined pretty good.I think with 22 lbs of pull on the track,I have 1.5" sag. Also them marginal wheels are spinning after all, they are not seized..my bad.
I still have a fast idle down effect going on.Throttle cable is not tight, have the stock pilots installed.I cranked the idle screw down somemore and opened the fuel screws to 2 3/8 turns out.Seems to come down fairly good now.I have mid grade fuel in the tank,I will be going with Premium fuel (91) octane.Maybe that is why my DCS came on once today.I have no hesitation going on from launch either and that hangup I had last season, which was clutch parts worn out,is non existent now since clutches are totally re-built.
Just waiting for some serious snow and good times.
