you give it a little choke, and the other cylinder starts to fire? i hate to tell you, but pull those carbs back off, cause you got pluggage issues in the pilot circuit. unscrew the fuel screw, take out pilot jet, and spray carb cleaner in there, and then blow out w/compressed air. did you hold the pilot jet up to the light and look thru it? can you see light? you still have cloggage in the pilot circuit. clean out you carbs/pilot jets/pilot circuits again, and report back. be sure to set fuel screws back to 1.5 turns out.

n0rt, what is all done to your sled, and what is the current jetting? you shouldn't be having exhaust get cherry red. do you guys have a air leak somewhere?
cked out last season were factory, all i know of history is a can was put on it, rest of sled seems
stock carbs seemed to be seated into rubber before reeds, show no signs of air leak, has me stumped

wright it down too
Check for an exhaust restriction. You have to have something way off to get the pipes that hot!
Make sure you check the port in Post #10 of this thread: http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=43118
idle musing to self: do you actually still get fuel out of the idle circuit(venturi effect) if that is plugged? Or does the lack of air passage render the circuit useless and it draws zero, not even fuel?
