On really bad ones I have let them sit in acetone for a little while then take a brass wire brush to them, Cleans them up pretty good.

Yes, Same here carb cleaner and small tip cleaners. I also use some compressed air to blow everything off just before I reassemble.

What was mentioned above plus I wear the double thick nitril type gloves. It saves the fingers a bit when your working with wet parts.

ROFLMAO! I just had this visual pop into my head of 'Johnny' wandering through the bush aimlessly with carb cleaner in his eye.

I used my garage air on a straight rubber nozzle blow gun on one of the passages in my TM38 and blew a nice atomized spray of gas vapor all over my garage. Good thing no one smokes here. Would have been a real big fire ball.

How fast can you shut off a 40,000 BTU propane heater?DV8 said:Or the heater running.....lol....
I broke a fuel line on a ET250 Saturday night with a full tank of gas. the end of the fuel line only reaches about halfway up the tank as it is and the break was below that, so the only option is to plug it.
Now there is a dilemna for you:
Do you shut off the heater first - or - plug the line. I opted to shut the heater off first and then cut the line and jam a pair of needle nose pliers in the newly cut end. I still got about a gallon of gas in the belly of the sled which doesn't take very long to spill out on the floor. Plus I had gas all over my hands and arms. That begins to sting after a while. I chose to throw down speedy dry before washing up.
Why do I mess with these old sleds again? It is a disease for sure.

Exactly!! I was changing the fuel tank on the kids Bravo, They broke the cap and hinge part of the tank. the line that indicates fuel level poped right off, gas everywhere, I picked the heater first also, But it sure makes you move fast!! lol

I make it a rule that when playing with something that will burn the flames go out before hand.
A neighbor of mine when I was growing up set his house on fire with a welding fire in the garage.

Read this thread this morning before heading to the garage to work on my sleds. Carb clean and old fuel removal on the Venture and exhaust on the Attak. I turned my propane heater OFF!!!! before removing anything fuel related. Would have probably been a big smoking hole where the father-in-law's garage is at right now. Randy, I got a great mental picture of you reading your post LOL!! AAAAAAHHHH! Made me laugh out loud buddy!
