I was wondering what oil is recommended for my Exciter SX. I know it's 2-stroke oil but is there a diference between the many brands, or semi-synthetic/full-synthetic?

in short....
yes there's a diference between brands, if your looking to really take care
of the sled and get as many miles as you can between ring jobs go with a
good synthetic(Klotz,Amsoil, etc.)or just stick with say yamahalube, fine oil
will work good but not as good as a full syn.

So if I use a full synthetic oil, could I turn the oil pump down some?

yamalube 2r costs a little more than regular yamalube 2s but its formulated for yamahas higher performace engines.i use it in my 81 srx and my 83 vmax with 93 octane and they run absolutely sweet.I also use it in my tri-z 250 and havent had any issues.alot of guys like to use amsoil. no one sells it around me so ive never used it.
