I have a set that are bent and I'm pondering fixing them. But I would like to figure out if they will hold up to flat land use.

Ok are the steering stops bent or are they supposed to be like this?

are you referring to the lightweight replacable tube ones? if so, they will hold up well to most any abuse, mountain or trail. running three sets of chromoly ones on three different sleds and so far only an uncalculated stump has hurt one arm. i have several tweaked stockers. whats bent on yours, the replacable shaft or the head? main tubes used to be readily available and fairly cheap if you get the "raw" replacement. just my 2 pennies.

Mine are the ones that don't have the replaceable tubes. But I'm going to cut them off after the bend and splice 1.25x.058 4130 over the top. Have you had any trouble with the radius rod brackets? These also look like they have been cracked.

we ride the hell out of our sleds. not much trail, but boondocking, tree riding and general off trail abuse. no issues with weld fatigue, just the occasional sleeper stump/rock. i didnt know mpi made ta,s that didnt have replacable main tubes. i just keep one spare in the trailer just in case.

Issues

Yes, the original one piece units did have some issues with fatigue cracks around the sway bar mount.....Mac at MPI pointed that out to me once. I didn't even know mine were cracked but he told me where to look and sure enough! While you are repairing you should weld up those cracks. Then just periodically keep an eye on them. I certainly think they are worth fixing....not that hard a job from what you describe. Run em!

By the way, to answer your question.....I have had trouble with the modular ones when using aluminum arms...they didn't hold up for me. But I have miles and miles on the chromalloy tubes.

I have a set of those on my sled. I slightly tweaked one last spring on a culvert will bashing through the ditches. Other than that no problems. Mine bowed up just a bit in the middle of the arm. I'm going to just ride it this year and see what it does.
