Hey guys, just wanted to post up a few pictures of my first ride of the season, on my new (old) sled. Picked this beaut up a couple weeks ago, but because of work and whatnot, yesterday was my first real chance to take'r out. Me and my buddy loading up the rides, and headed out to one of the staging areas for a few hours of ripping around.

Most of the afternoon the sled was a maniac, but would randomly bog out, and had even stalled on me a couple times. It wouldn't rev passed 4k, and the track would not engage, but after feathering the throttle for a few moments it seemed to subside, any ideas on that? Other than that, yesterday was a lot of fun, not a single hickup from my machine.

Then today, took my sled to a buddy's place for him to look it over, took it out of the truck, started first pull (weather was about -25 over night and today), so I was pretty jacked about that. After a couple rips up and down his street, i noticed what I thought was coolant sprayed all over one side of the seat. Didn't think much of it, but once we loaded it up into the truck, I was able to have a peek at the underbody and noticed a frequent dripping of oil. Popped the hood, block seemed dry all over, and the oil was pooling in the bottom corner near the reservoir. I'm really hoping it is something simple like a loose hose, or something wrong with the oil tank, I haven't ran the sled since early this afternoon. Is this something common with Exciters?

Anyways, here are a couple pictures from yesterday, my buddy has a few more and a vid of me tearing through a trail that I will post later.

Sounds like you ahd a good time. I would consider those issues to be something you want to address pretty quickly. I can imagine you will be really stoked when you get it running how it should:)

When were the carbs cleaned last?

hey did the exciter go faster than that 'ol POS Polaris!!! Haha J/k, nothing wrong with polaris, every manufacturer has there goods and bads, lol, but yeah, on your problem with your sled, clean the carb if they weren't cleaned before you bought it, how much you pay for her? She's in really good shape, looks almost MINT!

Coolant hose that goes to the waterpump Sometimes rub a hole in them under the steel clamp right by the recoil. The oil puddle might be the hose that goes to the site gage if it has one above the right footwell.

For the most part I stayed right on his ***, but my sled isn't running just right yet, im sure it would take it down when it's running up to snuff. I was told they were cleaned, it's a fairly fresh rebuilt engine, so I guess there is a chance they need a cleaning or something else. I paid a grand for her, she is in really good shape over all, couple scratches here and there, but nothing major at all, very impressed by it, just worried now because of the oil leak.

I was told they were cleaned at the end of last season, so I suppose sitting all summer could have fouled them. That issue can wait, it's not terrible by any means, just annoying. I need to address the oil leak asap.

That indy is a 98-99 domestic (not fuji 488) 500cc, rated at 90 hp. If it had the VES then it would have around 105 hp. Not bad for a 500cc....

I would expect a piped 570 exciter to go pretty well. What was a stock exciter rated at?
