98 Srx Air Box

Does anyone know if the holes on the bottom of the airbox are supposed to be there? if so, shouldnt they have some kind of filter or screen to prevent debres from getting in the carbs, first time taking the air box off, noticed that thought it was wierd.

just went out in the garage checked mine, it had holes in the bottom also, but not the original owner

it see,s strange. water and other crap can get sucked up, wierd, maybe other will put some info here

them are suppost to be there to drain out any moisture from powder ...

I thought the same thing " why are the holes there" after thinking about it if you get snow,water or moisture it can drain out the bottom.
