I'm mostly a trail rider on my Vmax 500, but when I get a chance to play in the powder on lakes or rivers, my turning radius is huge. Seems like half a football field to turn a circle. My skis are the factory Yam plastic skis 5.5" wide (originally the sled came with the steel skis), they are quite worn.

I'm thinking of replacing the skis with the Camoplast 7" powder skis or the CA advantage X 6" skis with 6" carbide runners. I still want good performance on trails too. Anything else I should be looking at?
Thanks.

If you have a lot of pressure on the track vs the ski's you will have less turning radius as it will push through the turn. If you lift the front of the skid some you will gain ski-pressure as well as lower the amount of pressure on the track. However this will affect the overall handeling of the sled as well.

Thanks guys. I have the Plastic GYT skis with thick cast aluminum shoe. I will check the pressure on the track. That would make sense since my hifax seem to wear out very quickly. The sled is new to me last season so I'm still learning the set-up.

also check the aligment of the skis. I had a steering arm bent behind the rubber boot. Steering was horable

I am assuming you have Trailing arm sled. Turn the handle bars all the way to right/left and see if the stopper rod on the steering bracket that bolts to the spindle is toching the stopper on the Trailing arms
