If the boot that connects the air box to the carb not all the way onto the air box cause a lean condition . I just did the head gasket mod on my 97 600 and found the exhaust side of the pto side piston burnt off . I replaced the piston and cleaned the carbs but found nothing wrong . Last winter it was backfiring and didn't want to run thatwas when I found that boot off center . that was the only thing I foud wrong that day to.

yes that can cuase it to suck air and lean out. Make sure you dont have plugges air jets and or main jet as well.

Thats pretty much what I thought ,I can't wait to try it now ,if it snowsone more time I will just a mile or so .
