I looked at the OEM microfiche but they offer 2 options for each shock? Both same part numbers for both shock options trail and mountain versions.

I was wanting to know if the Viper front/rear shocks are the same off the Mountain Vipers???

They rears have different spring rates and different valving. Most trail sleds were KYB rebuildables and the mountains were steel. The fronts are different length.

On the Viper microfiche you need to refer to the 8EN for Mountain and 8EK for the Trail sled. Many of the fiche have both on it, and the links take you to the same page. The '04 trail sled had steel in the rear with a different setup altogether.

Anyway to tell if a shock is a Mountain Viper or shorty Viper shock if it measures 16 3/4"'s from center of eye to center of eye and has R193 stamped on them.

I am wanting to put Viper front shocks on my Mountain Max, I am unsure if the Viper shorty shocks will fit??? My stock Mountain Max shock are 15 3/8 center of eye to center of eye.....

I have never tried it, but I think they would be too long and hit the bumpers before allowing the T-arm to swing full travel. I suppose I could look at all of the specs in the Tech Update for you . . .

I think I have read on here about guys using the Mountain Viper shocks on the Mountain Max's.

But I don't know how to tell the shocks apart from each other. I am thinking the shorty Viper shocks would be to long, being different ski stances?????

The ones I found are 16 3/4'' center of eye to center of eye.
My stock Mountain Max shocks are 15 3/8''. Will the 16 3/4 '' work? I think they might be off of a Viper shorty....
