I am getting ready to change the chain case lube in my 2000 vmax 700. I was wondering how i can drain the lube, how to refill it, and what I am supposed to refill it with.
Take the dipstick out, and turn the sled on it's top . . .
No, wait don't do that . . .
There is a drain plug inside the tunnel at the front of the track. You can tell it apart from the bolt that holds the steering gate, by the fact that the tunnel is drilled out around it. This actually goes into the back of the chaincase. You can refill it with a funnel through the dipstick hole. I like a synthetic chaincase oil such as Amsoil, or ATF fluid.
I recommend also taking the cover off and cleaning and inspecting the chain and gears. This is real easy to do.

do like ding says wash the case out too,use a good full syn oil..
