i have about 1/4 tank of yamalube oil to go in the tank. would it be ok to fill it up with synthetic or should i empty it some more? i know the 2 dont mix well. i would like to get it on soon as i have 2 rides (4 tanks) on a totally rebuilt motor. just asking because i have alot of money tied up into it, i dont want to risk anything.

What brand of synthetic? There is only maybe one or two brands that don't like to be mixed. When I changed mine way back when, I just ran the oil tank down untill the light came on then filled her up with the good stuff.

empty more...

they would mix fine the thing is unless run down very low you won't get the
full effect's(better anti-wear/additives)of the synthetic oil,i suck mine out
when i get a new sled looks like a grease gun but it sucks in instead or pushes you can get most of it that way,or run the sled till it's almost out(safely)then dump in.

There is nothing wrong with mixing, just like Daman said. He hit it right on the head. I would say, if you can't get the other stuff out just go ahead and fill the tank up with the synthetic. that old stuff will burn out of there quick enough.

I guess I didn't say that?

There is no problem mixing Amsoil with your oil, but if you are concerned and want to get all the benefits of using Amsoil, then definatly drain as much of the old oil out and pour in the good stuff.
