working on an 1996 zrt600 cleaned the carbs put new jets in seems to be running on one clyinder but all three have spark ocassionally the other cylinders start running so what next fuel pump?help!!!

Try changing the fuel line of the cylinder that is firing around to the other 2 and see what happens. If you get constant firing action from doing this then I'd say you've got fuel pump problems.Or you could just yank the pump apart to start with and see what's going on with it,mabey there's a plugged port or 2 in it or a stretched diaphram (sp?) allowing just enough gas to feed only one cylinder consistently.Mikuni pumps are quite common so a rebuild kit shouldn't be that hard to come by.

Something else I just thought of to add;you say the carbs are cleaned but you may have to redo them especially the pilots as they are what controls the idle circuit and that could possibly be where the problem lies.

What about compression on the 2 cylinders that aren't firing right?I'm just throwing out suggestions as to where to look, this is one of those things that can really nag at a person to get it straightened out.

I would verify it is not your coil or stator. Check for shorts in the wiring.

Also, as fourbarrel says, take compression readings to get a quick check on that aspect.

i had (kinda) same problem with my 02 mxz 800. running on one cylinder. second cylinder would fire up when i gave some throttle. took it to 3 different places. got 3 different answers. the last dealership got it right. i had a cracked carb boot and reeds were bad. runs perfect now.
