New to snowmobiling all together but I have a couple questions. First I have a complete stock 96 Vmax 600 with 600 miles. Is there anything in particular I should be aware of and also how can I tell what trim package it is? There are no stickers on it. Thanks

my v-max dx (black) has electric start , reverse and two up seat , when i got it they told me those three items where what made it a dx.

looking in the original brachure i have it says:

v-max
v-max with electric start = v-max le
v-max with electric start , reverse and 2 up seat = v-max dx
v-max with 136" track = v-max st

Sounds like you gota XT,(10.5' of rear travel, adjustable TSS struts) nice old sleds, yea like dnale said they like there fuel you may want to check jetting and and safely jet down some get your clutching dialed in oil pump tweaked
and should yield ya 10-11+mpg.

Daman was alot of help with my old sled (who am I kidding and this new one!) I was getting the 10-11 (maybe even 12) mpg out of it and I was running PSI twin pipes.

Pull the rear suspension, take it apart and grease the heck out of it. Lots of small collars and bushings in these suspensions that will lock up if not greased. I would not worry about the struts but the front suspension also needs to be taken apart and greased. Wish I would of known these things before I purchased my 95 a few years ago! Great dependable sleds if you keep them maintained! Stay on groomed trails!!!!!
