Alright, so I checked out all the posts on tethers and still have one question, well three... Previous owner of my sled took out kill switch and just left wiring, etc. in tact. So I'm thinking I can just cut off the black striped wire and use that as my power wire for kill switch. I will have to leave the ground in tact, because it is also the ground for the TORS... I wil just tap into the main ground for my tether and be set... Is this correct? Also when you guys say "tap" into a wire, how exactly is that done(strip wire that is being tapped into and wrap the other wire around and solder it???)? Thanks in advance!

tether

i just bought a tether for my 01 srx....it has a plug on the tether is there a spot on sled to plug in or do i have to wire it also???(never came stock with tether)....just wondering also some info not trying to walk on your post dude....thank you

First question:Yes you should be able to tap into the kill switch power wire for your tether and yes the ground stays put as that is what actually makes the tether work when the plug gets popped off it puts the power to ground killing the engine.
Second:As for the actual tapping into the wires you can do it the way you said by stripping it back and soldering on your new wire just make sure you use something to give you a weather proof covering here, brush on electrical tape works well.Or you can buy ready made tap connectors like the pic for just and occasion.Just use electrical tape after to cover everything up.

The SRX doesn't come with a factory plug to plug a tether into so any of them that come with a plug already are meant for older sleds as I understand some of them did have a factory connector for a tether. You will either have to cut off the tether plug and wire it up without it or use some push on terminals and extra wiring to take advantage of the plug.Either way you'll have to use the extra wire to give you enough to work with.Just remember to ground one side and wire the other in series with an ignition wire.
