Hi,i have an old Exciter -89 mod,and is thinking 'bout getting a little bit more hp out of it,since i rode it stock for 2 years now
all my buddies are buying new sleds, but i tought i should stick to thisand tune it up a little, just to be different.I got a pair of used PSI twin-pipes for it that made it fly(but kinda ran lean,if you have jetting information that goes with these pipes, let me know)
.Im wondering if i can use The 570 SX jugs with my original roundslide carbs(since the sx had flatslides) without f'ckin up my engine, like torn cylinders ore a bent out of ballance crankshaft.I guess the Exciter and the Exciter 2 had the same crankcases,so hte cylinderjugs will fit right on?
Thanx if you can help a viking soup up his old Yammie

nikolai, lots of ideas to do to your exciter. i have the paperwork for the twin pipes. if you would like them, pm me your e-mail . i will scan them and send them to you if you like.let me know. yes sx cylinders will fit.same bottom end as well as the 94 thru 96 500 and 600 vmax sleds and maybe more year twins as well.get a hold of ike here on this site. he built a nice exciter, maybe he can help you out and give some ideas as well

Hey thanx man,ill pm you my mail adress
Yeah i talked with Ike on youtube, about v-max cylinders on the exciter crankcase. But since i got those sx cylinders on my hands,i think i will go for them
So i can run it with the original roundslide carbs?i gues i will not get the same throttle-response with the originals, but i can always give some calls to sled yunkyards around norway to get a hold of flatslides
Also, would it be smart to use one powerfilter on each carb, ore should i just try to get a cold air intake(or maybe fabricate one myself)?.Heard from some that the smartest is to keep the airbox

never used the cold air kit just cut my stock box per the psi sheet.you will need a donor sled 94 thru 96 vmax 500 or 600 . get the throttle block, both cables(oil pump and throttle) and carbs then you will have to order the internals for the carbs to match sx specs.would be nice to score the clutches off one as well.now as far as jetting for twin pipes ,cant help you bro unfamiliar territory.now with single psi pipe with porting on the sx, mains were 160 on the sx carbs keep in mind this is with good fuel. for alcohol or oxygenated fuel go 2 sizes up on jetting!
