Updating 80 enticer rear suspension

Has any one out there ever updated the suspension in a early 80s enticer. I would like to give my sons sled a little more travel and purchased a suspension out of a late 80s enticer. The sled had the same track # so I didnt think length would be a issue until I went to bolt it in. The measurements between the mounting bolt were the same out of the sled but when I was installing the holes didn't line up and the track was so tight with the skid collapsed that you could have played a tune on it. Really dont want to have to mess around with drilling new mounting holes and reinforcing the tunnel if I dont have to. Thought maybe a little longer track like the phazers would work but will probably have to change the drivers. Any help would be great.

That thread might not help much but what was the travel difference....and you have the track adjusters all the way forward...

I had the adjusters all the way forward. The old suspension probably has about 2" of travel and the newer skid probably had 8 " I am going to check out the link. Thanks
