I am trying to get more bite on my 98 SRX I have tried everything but all I do is ring the track 1 1/4" lugs with 144 studs I have bender quick tunes they do nothing! I am about 275lbs cannot get the skis off the ground it's like someone my size is sitting on the front bumper. If someone has an idea or a suspension setup page I'm willing to try it.

Where are the limiters straps at?
Limiter straps not set up right maybe....? ALso if you want you can try to get or make a set of adjustable transfer rods...those usually help to lift the front end.....There is a post on the Tech section on how to make your own or buy them, maybe bender still makes them...

In his post above, it says he has Bender quick tunes, maybe those are the transfer rods you are suggesting Nicko. Just a thought... On a different note, although I have a different skid in my SRX (X-tra 10), I wound think the same rules would apply. If I loosen the front limiter straps an inch or so, I can't keep the skis on the ground until about 50, and that's sitting on it, not trying to lift them. I have them tightened up a bit for a compromise between good holeshots and good handling.
So as they're suggesting above, maybe you're straps aren't loose enough? Rear shock too tight, not working properly? Needs rebuilding? Front spring rates too low, need tightening?
Just some ideas...

I have a 1/4" of thread left to make them longer.
I have bender adjustable transfer rods

Its all in the rod gap on top!A big guy will sqwat the suspention more than a lighter person. So the gap will be smaller...when seated. Not to the point that they will bottom out when simply seated on the sled but will limit transfer haveing a smaller gap than there should be.98 srx needs the shorter rods from a 2000 up mounted in the front holes[or drill them]With a 11/4'' to 11/2'' gap on top.Than you will be adjusting to keep the front end down.
oops sorry did not see that. Then follow goody's tips, most likely L. straps are to tight...? Loosen them up all the way and try it.

what's rod gap on the top?
For you guys that set up for drag racing, Do you ever take the plastic shim out on the top side of the transfer rods and load the bottom side with shims to get the suspension pulled down for better hole shots?

The gap from the bottom mount to were the rod adjusts.Maybie you could adjust them so the gap is bigger.
Ok now I'm catching on a little. I know more about the motor and clutching than suspension setup

You can take the shim out but dont put it in the bottom or pull the rods down........ the shock brackets will bend.If the adjuster on the big shock is put on the lowest setting it will trasfer better for drag raceing.Herky said:For you guys that set up for drag racing, Do you ever take the plastic shim out on the top side of the transfer rods and load the bottom side with shims to get the suspension pulled down for better hole shots?
i didnt think the Srx would clear a 1 1/4 track with studs..what lenght studs are you running?chad's98 said:I am trying to get more bite on my 98 SRX I have tried everything but all I do is ring the track 1 1/4" lugs with 144 studs I have bender quick tunes they do nothing! will this stop the track from ringing and the front from plowing and where is a good place to start on spring length the front is 7 3/4" and the rear is 12 1/2"
This may sound stupid, but wouldn't the shock brackets bend under heavy accelration than?Every time you hit a bump or take off hard the gap on top closes, by putting the shims on the bottom your just keeping the gap closed.I know you wouldn't want to go trail riding like this, but it wouldn't work for racing only huh?bluewho said:You can take the shim out but dont put it in the bottom or pull the rods down........ the shock brackets will bend.If the adjuster on the big shock is put on the lowest setting it will trasfer better for drag raceing.

My front spring length on mine is 7 9/16". My spring is 3/16" shorter, so I have more preload than you (shorter spring, more preload) I weigh about 165lbs, you're a big boy @ 275lbs, maybe you'll need more preload? Also you say your track "rings", is it rubbing on the tunnel protectors, causing this noise?
no when I said ringing I meant spinning seems like thats all it wants to do in 3" of snow 10" of snow or ice till about 40 or 50 mph

No it dosent sound stupid at all When i say the brackets will bend i mean the control staps that pull the shock closed. You no the thin bands of metal that run paralle with the shock?Iam just going from expereance from messing around with my 3 srxs for ten years now.I think i have bent busted or broken every thing you could possaby do with over 30.000 klm on the 98.Herky said:This may sound stupid, but wouldn't the shock brackets bend under heavy accelration than?Every time you hit a bump or take off hard the gap on top closes, by putting the shims on the bottom your just keeping the gap closed.I know you wouldn't want to go trail riding like this, but it wouldn't work for racing only huh?
