Just getting started on the snowmobile scene. I have a Yamaha mountain max 600 and a polaris rmk 600. Are these two good machines. Has anybody seen any problems on the mountain max? Both machines are 1999 with 1000 miles on them.

welcome! never had any issues with the mm 600. lots of things you can do to make it better. read on! there is a wealth of info available here.
Only problem I had with my 600 MM was the smart carbs freezing-up. This seemed to happen when running in powder or on foggy moisture laden days when extremely cold. Be sure you run some Iso-Heet in the gas and will likely never have any problem. Some 600 with the smart carbs worked great, others where a little finiky!
If they do freeze, they will still allow you to get back home at lower rpm. You will need to get it in and warm up the carbs to melt moisture. Add Heet and go again.
