will a srx motor fit in a 97 sx vmax? of course you have to change a lot but is it possible?..or would a viper motor be easier? does viper exhaust manifold bolt up to a srx motor?

blew up my 97 700 this weekend after 10,000 miles...time to build a real sleeper...is this posible or ever been done??

Any thing is possible but not always recomended. I put a viper motor in my srx and that was enough of a headach for me. The SRX and viper motors anr basically the same when it comes to bolting them into the tunnel. The srx cyls and viper cyls are different , so if you are going to use a single pipe you will need viper cyls and manifold.Viper manifold will not bolt to srx cyl's. I wouldn't recomend what you are thinking of doing unless youare prepared to do atotal wire harness switch to srx or viper and I think the mounting is abit difernt too. You also have to consider power vvalves with these motors and mount the power valve servo motor. If it was me I would pull a viper or srx up beside yours and do some comparisons and measuring.

I think the engine mounts and the bulkhead are different. You would either have to run custom pipes or put a single pipe on it to get it to fit under the hood. good luck.

got a 2002 srx 700 in on trade for a car I had and from my understanding they put a viper motor in it and it hasnt run right since.it will start up but its not running on all cylinders. it has good compression, all the coils seem good. The weird thing is that everytime you start it the running cylinders change. one time cylinder 1 works fine the next time you start it cylinder one dont work and its running off another cylinder changing everytime.Any ideas what to look at ?

ive seen things like that happen and a new stator cured it. sounds like the same story though, real intermittent also. I have also seen sleds not want to fire and change cylinders like that when it had a bad fuel pump. took a while to find that one, the ony way i realized it is when the sled was not running and i took off the fuel lines gas would run, and when i was going through the carbs on my buddys (whos sled was fine) i realized his didnt freeflow like mine did.

i would think that if it had anything to do with the transplant your problems would be electrical, maybee not firing, guages not working right, or error codes flashing...
