Can you damage your motor by driving it with pulled through power valves?
Will I notice a performance loss on the bottom end only?

The valve will actually remain closed (as long as you leave the spring on and valve in). Thus your low-end will be the same, but your top-end will suffer. You could run them with the valve removed, but it will expose the chamber, cable end to high heat. You will then lose your low-end. I found neither to be desireable.
