Hi guys. It's nice to be back.
Some quick questions on my 1997 SX VMax. (Mods I have done... 8AB with 2.4 in all holes, YSY Primary, 14.5 mm rollers, 50/40 helix, Green secondary twisted to 80 degree, Reed spacers modification, Single HD gasket, 2" hole in 1rst baffle of stock exhaust can.)
Would like to work on gearing this year. If I increase driveing gear by a tooth and decrease the other by a tooth, theoretically I should go faster. Will I loose much by doing this, like trail performance, and should I change the chain when I do this. Not sure if it is important or not, but i do have reverse.
What gearing are you guys using?
Thanks everybody,
Chris

on a reverse model you can only change the top, I dont think any different slip gears are available....I wouldnt gear taller.....actually if your gear down you will accerate harder .

Thanks Mr Sled,
Not really interested in any more pull in the middle. Looking for top end right now and was wondering if 1 tooth extra would do much for top end and what would I loose in the middle.

in theory, yes you should go faster, how much you will loose mid, not sure....cant hurt to try. Keep me posted on your results.

In many cases gearing up will reduce performance if other mods are not done. Gearing up can cause your clutching not to reach full shift. Gets tricky to find a clutch and gearing combo for top speed.
