canada? ,maine? tug hill? old forge?(adirondacks)...where were you thinking?
Go to Muni.
There's a fairly new Holiday Inn Express up on a hill overlooking the bay with access to the trails. If your wife is anything like mine an nice clean room and good bed go a long way to a good trip.
Trail 8 runs pretty much east west across the UP. Stay near it and you can't get lost.
From Muni you can go along the pictured rocks shoreline to Gran Marais.
Tahquamenon Falls is easy to get to. You could go there for lunch and get warmed upp, theres an nice place to eat right at the falls.
The trails are good in the area and the topography makes the riding interesting.
Well worth the trip.

I beleive the perfect place to ride for beginners is around Wellston MI. this is relatively close to you, plenty of snow. Minimal traffic perfectly groomed trails. We like to stay at the Wellston Inn, rent a cabin for 50 bucks and have a wonderfull time. Go North, Benzie trails, West, Manestee, East Caberfe, South the Irons trails. I am sure she will have a good time. Al
