Has anyone ever taken a long sled trip? I am talking about traveling by sled alone say 1000 miles. I have heard of tours running from Mac bridge to Atlantic ocean.

I would bet Hondo from TY 4stroke has some pretty long trips logged!

My nephew and I did approx. 2,200 miles(according to our speedo's) in the winter 03/04 .Left Sat. morn. and returned the next Sat. afternoon.
Coldwater to North Bay Day 1 Good bars here
North Bay to New Liskart Day 2
New Liskart via Elk Lake to Cochrane Day 3
Cochrane to Hornpayne Day 4
Hornpayne to Chapleau Day 5 Cleaned nephews exhaust valves
Chapleau to Elliot Lake Day 6 Cleaned my exhaust valves Good bar in bottom of hotel right on trail and in town
Elliot Lake to Alban(south of Sudbury) Day7
Alban to home Day 8

This is our longest to date, but we usually do at least 1500 miles somewhere in Ont. the second week of Feb.Been doing this for about 15 years.

Did about 800 miles three years ago in four days, all in northern lower michigan. Usually take a long ride each year, average about 500 miles over three days.

We did a little under 1000 miles in about 3 days riding in Ontario starting from New Liskerd and going north. Then trailered back down to central NY to meet a big group of friends for another 350 miles in two and a half days riding. The big group slowed us down quite a bit or else we could have made 1500 for the trip.

750 in two days in the U.P. I posted the trip a while back and A holes started beating me up because I must not have had time to take in the scenery. Throttle to the bars...let it snow

I drove around 120 miles in a day!!! DOES THAT COUNT for anything???

Our group did 260 in a day, but we also did a lot of backcountry as well last Saturday. But we also did almost 800 for the whole trip which was 3 days, not a bad way to start off a season.

Now that sounded like one heck of a good ride!

It was an awesome ride. It's not hard to put on 300 miles in a day up there. We usually end up with some short days after closing bars the night before.I can handle the sledding,it's the partying at night that gets to me by the end of the week.Got a ton of snow here and I haven't even been out yet.Just noticed that my limiter straps are almost torn in half.$30 each from Yamaha.

In the December 2008 issue of American Snowmobiler, is an article about a guy from Maine that rode 12,163 miles. The sled is a 2005 RS Venture that had 22,600 miles on it before he started the trip. The trip took two months and was verified by Guinness as a new world record. At the end of the season the sled had 36,033 miles on it.

I go on a trip every year, they have been from 3 to 6 days and I hear you on the "short days"! At the towns I stay in, I get a motel close enough to walk downtown and then barhop through the town. It is part of the trip. But I go for quality rather than quantity when riding, so the short days don't bother me.

One of the guys I go riding with did the first across Canada trip!!! Newfoundland to B.C!!!!

Ive heard of a group ride starting in Northwestern Mass that deadends in Northern Vermont. Sounded like a fun ride to go on.

I've heard of there being trips on a "snow train" or something like that, that you put the sleds on the train in NY and it takes you north and you ride back??? anyone ever heard of this? I think that would be a cool trip. It would really be awesome if it would come down into Pa and take our no snow getting asses to ride without the 4 hour drive !

well it isn't me. I'm lucky if I put on 30 miles a season! In 18 years, I haven't even turned the trip meter over. I have put 930 miles on it

The only snow trains I've ever heard of are both in Northern Ontario. One out of Cochrane and one out of Wawa.

I would like to run some longer trips but I don't think I could ride THAT far in a day. I thought we were doing good at 200 miles a day. I would be comfortable to put on say 150 per day and ride for a week, as long as the trails were good. I would like to run a long destination trip this winter, carring back packs of clothing for 3 nights at a time. Any ideas of where a good trip could start and stop. Michigan lower or upper? Allan
