Hi everyone. I have a 2001 SRX, 10,000kms and is hurt. A friend of mine purchased a SRX motor from ebay and is supposed to have just been built. According to my friend it is spotless and looks like new. The seller told him it was built to 175hp and was going to use it to race but had to move it because of divorce. It does not have pipes or power valves or carbs. Assuming it is 175 hp it must be a Big bore? seller said it was ported and polished. Buddy says you can turn the motor from crank by hand pretty easy. What shoul I look for and how can you tell if it is a Big Bore? Any help would be great!
pull head and measure ....or look and see if you can see the stamp on the top of the piston ....powervalves would tell you if you had them ....if it is big bore i think the valves have to be ground to match the piston diameter ...

No it does not have to be a big bore to get 175 hp. Depends how they ported it.

stock is approx 145hp. you are not going to get another 30hp from just porting it.
SRX44, i would pull the spark plug and look down at the piston crown, and see if there is a wiseco# or something. best bet is to take the head off and see what the bore measures. then you will know for sure.
