just wondering opinions about stud lengths & patterns. camoplast predator 1" lug, 96 studs V pattern in the middle, that is how i bought it- not enough hook-up. picked up 48 more 1.08" stud boy for outside edges, the guy at the parts counter said lot of guys are putting them right under the slides, have to have every other window closed of course to do that. anybody out there doing it like this???

You can't. they'll take out your front heat exchanger guards........

Plus I don't think you'd want to drill there either. I think Bender used to make what they called "Bender plates" that were welded to the track clip and a T-nut type stud was screwed into the drilled/tapped plate. It put the stud where all the weight was at and you had to move the tunnel protectors. As Mighty said though, you'd have issues with the front and rear heat exchanger protectors.

I've always studded every outside segment (48 per side) along with down the middle and wouldn't run less than 144. I have 192. I like a little bite in the corners and believe having every segment studded helps with durability.

I did have a Polaris track rip once that caused a three inch flap to come around and take out the front exchanger. I won't argue with guys that won't run any outside, but IMHO, pull outs and rips have more to do with the loose nut behind the bars than stud patterns or numbers of studs.

yea I knew heat exchanger protectors would have to be moved, I think it would be a great place to put them maybe on a drag or similar sled, it would have to hook up with all that weight right there. I will stick to the outside lines as usual. As far as tear outs, 2 things there, studs provide a safety factor that outweigh sliding into a tree cause you can't stop, secondly, getting smoked by a formula 583 cause you can't hook, well that's just wrong in every way. I'm going to 144 right now, try that i guess.
