I have a V Max 700 and I am thinking about putting performance exhaust on it. I like the look and sound of a tripple pipe set up, and I was wondering what this would add overall to the performance of the sled. Also, I was curious what is and isn't legal in the U.P. and Wisconsin when it comes to the sound levels of the pipes. Thanks for the help.
UP triple pipes are ok, Wisconsin may be trouble. Definite power gain 20+ hp. Some are better than others. You have to rejet and tune the clutches to get and use the power. However, you can get a good increase without triple pipes - see Tech Pages.

Exhaust
In Wisconsin the present law is 88 decibels applying the SAE J2567 test. It isn't illegal just because it's after market. Some systems will pass and some won't.
