I just picked up some stock 440 srx pistons. One set has 2 rings and the other is like all the ones I have seen with just 1 ring. What are the 2 ring set pistons from. Also one set has some small holes in the piston on the exhaust side. What are these for. Thanks and have a Merry Xmas.

DUAL RING PISTONS WERE USED ON SOME VERY EARLY 1978 SRX,s. I NEVER SEEN THIS ON ANY OTHER YEAR. if it was, i never seen it. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I thought I had read that on this forum at some time. Probaly a post you had made before. Just wasn't positive. What about the 2 holes on the exhaust port side of the pistons. They are real tiny.

this part # superseded to 8j0-11631-00-93 single ring design
as for the holes, never seen stock srx pistons with them before.

I had a set of 78 8G9 cylinders also with small cylinder stud holes. They also were for the early year 78's I was told. I was wrong the holes are on the intake side. Which my guess would be for some kind of boost. Thanks for all the info.

GREAT INFO RAMBLINMAN. THOSE ARE DEFFINEITLY BOAST PORTS. I KNOW AAEN PEFORMANCE WAS BIG ON DOING THIS TO SRX PISTONS, BUT I NEVER SEEN THEM ON OEM. AGAIN SOME OF THE EARLY 78 SRX,s HAD SMALL STUDS. 78 I HAD HAD LARGE. THING I WHISH YAMAHA WOULD OF DONE TO ALL THE SRX,s WAS THE INTAKE BRIDGE DIVIDER. STOP THAT ROCKING THAT CAUSED SKIRTS TO GET WORN OUT. ESPECIALLY ON PORTED ENGINES.3:16 (yammie tony)
