Water temp light consistantly coming on

yeah i thought thats where the tube should go, that would explain the reason its loosing all the coolant im sticking in. should if ill that bottle up when i connect the overflow tube to that neck that sticks off teh bottle?

The coolant overflow tank is beside the oil tank and has a cap with 3" of quarter inch line on it. If you look at the rad cap fitting in the upper rad hose their should be a quarte inc spicket coming off of it just below the cap flange. That fitting should have a hose that goes to the spicket on the bottom of the coolant over flow/recovery tank. The line from the cap runs under the jackshaft and to the tank. There should be a guide clip tht will hold the hose from contacting the jackshaft. Now if you hook everything up right the sled should stop using coolant. When the engine is cold the tank should have coolant @ the low mark. @ operating temp the coolant level will rise. This is why you were always adding coolant because every time the engine warmed uo and the coolant expanded it would push some out into the belly pan and then have air in the system when it cooled down. Now it will push coolant into the tank when hot and draw coolant out when it cools.

ok, so the overflow tube from under the rad cap does go through the clip to keep ti from the jackshaft. it should go to the bottom of the oil/coolant tank. i will check this. so the nipple fitting on the top has nothign connected to it?
