Hello, I was wondering if a used sled of this age can use synthetic oil or not? Im picking it up tomorrow, and I have no clue what oil has been used before. should I use regular oil or synthetic? i dont know anything about oil, and have no clue what the difference is..all I know is that it has 3000 miles on it, and I would love that this last a long time and trouble free...I see walmart now has a quicksilver synthetic two stroke oil for cheap, but they also have the blue supertech regular oil, for half that price..any info would be great, as i dont know much about this, the yamaha dealer says only use Yamalube.....thanks, Pete

if you want it to last longer(between ring jobs) yes a full synthetic oil like
amsoil, klotz, etc. will help but it's more $$ then others like yamalube.

yes you can switch to synthetic in that sled., side note yamalube isn't that
bad of an oil either..myself i use amsoil only..

I run Yamalube simply because the previous owner of both my sleds ran it (both 96) never had an oil related issue, and it is VERY easy to find and fairly inexspensive.

yamalube and supertech(walmart)

I know this has been discussed six million times, but I will ask anyways, Is the Yamalube the same oil as the cheap supertech 2 stroke found at walmart? I find it hard to pay $30.00 for yamalube if the walmart brand is only $10.00, but I will pay the difference if the yamalube is indeed better oil..thanks, Pete

it should only be 22 for a gallon thats what the dealer here has been selling it for. Got a case for 15/gal online last year haven't been able to find the 2s online this year.
