I am having an issue with my '98 SRX, the sled seems fine when it starts but after about 10 minutes any time I stop or take a hard right the sled bogs down, goes pop pop pop pop. Then I have to wait about 1 to 2 minutes and it will run fine again until the next stop sign or hard left. I just put new gas lines in, cleaned carbs and exhaust valves but no luck fixing.
Any ideas please?

check throttle tension.sounds like it may be TORS, maybe? Adjusted too tight, slack it off alittle.

I'll second the TORS... if its reving to about 2800-3000 its TORS, my 98 SRX started doing that to me the other night after I cleaned the carbs, i noticed when I took the throttle cable off there was more slack in the cable than I liked to see but then I talked to my Yamaha dealer and he said that they like a little more slack in them than some of the other rides I am use to riding. Live and learn, stop learning and ya stop living... Hope that solves your problem
Thanks guys. I really hope it's the TORS, I really don't want to have to buy a new stater. Last year I did raise the handle bars in a hurry with no thottle extentions, confusses me because I had no problems last year but only in 3 or 4 rides.

bypass the tors to see if it stops.

Or if it doesnt.... and hits a tree... haha.
I have heard of people bypassing it but I have no idea how?

Unplug the wires from the switch on the carbs (right by your idle adjust).
The wires from the harness you just unplugged, plug them into each other.
The TORS is now bypassed.
Try adjusting your throttle cable first, link in my sig.
I opted not to test the tree theory and picked up new extended throttle and oil cables that should be in tomorrow; the old cables were pretty beat up and I should have replaced them with riser. I saw a link that said throttle cable 2mm play in trigger, I am assuming that is after pivot point bottoms out on lever?
I am a little worried about installing new oil cable though, said 20mm to 22mm any suggestions or shortcuts FAQs to installation? Just looking at it dive toward the belly pan seems like a pain in the @$$.

On my old Redhead I think I took the rear mount off to get at the oil pump better. The SRX may be different. Take the carbs out and have a look. It always takes longer to screw around working around stuff then it does to take the offending part off to get clear access.

I have disconnected the tors on every yamaha sled I owned.
Never have to worry about it. Just my opinion. Ther is a little red button you can push to shut down your sled, if you think carbs are icin! how the hell did we all survive sledding before tors!
Never hit a tree.
Rick.

One trick I wish I would have done right away when I put my longer oil cable in is once you remove the stock cable pull it tight against your new longer cable and set the adjustment from the cable mount to the end the same on the new cable. Then install the new cable and make sure you do not have any valleys in the new cable that will trap water. You will need to remove the carbs and the rear motor mount. It's not really that bad at all.
