After I got my sled ready for winter I have noticed it is harder to start and I have no idea why. I have to pull it over 6 to 7 times sometimes more the sled is a 04 sx viper s with 2200 miles on it. I cleaned carbs and powervales new fuel and plugs.

i pulled and pulled on mine this morning and i finnaly dropped a snuff of race fuel on the air box and presto done deal... it was -4 today

I had it in a warm shed that was pretty damp for a couple hours then took it out to some damn cold weather just wondering if that might cause a problem. The sled started great last year no problem like I said it only has 2200 miles on it.

Check the choke adjustment, on my srx i had the choke adjusted too tight causing it to choke too much, i adjusted it to where it should of been and it starts 3-5 pulls now, You should take a look at the choke rail and flip the choke on and see where the rail is at, you can see a line on the choke rail where it should come out max, the only time you would be able to see the line on the rail is if the choke is adjusted too tight.... Just something to check... my .02 cents

5-7 pulls after sitting for a day isn't uncommon. I guess the Viper just needs to get fuel to the carbs... as long as it runs perfectly fine when it's going, and on one pull when warm, I wouldn't think it's a problem.

Mine did the same thing!

I had the exact same problem. You might have gotten bad fuel. I have had this happen and couldn't trace it to anything. Just went away on it's own, once I changed the fuel.

I am dreading trying to start my 94 Vmax 600. I did not run it at all last year and has yet to be started this year. So 2 years not running may be a problem. I am aiming for 5 or less pulls. Gonna put fresh gas and new plugs in it. It is a Yami so shouldn't be too bad.

After setting all winter my sled is a terror to start but i do think its due to poor storage. I dont have a garage so every spring I put it on a pallet and cover it up real good but when I towed it into my father in laws heated garage I am always amazed to see how much moiture is in the engine compartment. MY first few pulls I had someone checking my headlight for light but had none. after I let it warm up about 10 mins i checked for spark and if was there, I also had a headlight as I pulled it over. I replaced my bad stator for a good used one that fixed the problem but I sure wish I had a brand new one in there!

After mine sits for at least one week, it is rather hard to start. At least 10 pulls. After that, shes a 1-2 pull sled, provided it doesn't sit any longer than a few days.

My wife's EFI Cat is a 1-3 pull all the time.
