I was talkin to this guy on another forum, and he was all hog wild with his arctic cats, He was saying his F5 with d&d twin pipes on it beat a few vipers... Theres a serious difference in horsepower there even if it has pipes on it... You would need a serious amount of mods to keep up with a viper or Srx for that matter, i don't think this guy gave me his full mod list, because hes stickin to his guns that he would give me a run for my money.

i laughed and ended that argument....ooooooooookkk buddy.

IIRC, the f5 is not a very strong 500. Even with twin pipes I don't think it would beat a viper. Maybe up to 75 or so the f5 might give it a race, but the triple will get rolling and I bet the 500 will run out of steam on top.

It's possible if the F5 was not stock. The Viper was not in general a fast sled. It wouldn't however stand a chance against an SRX. :2strokes:

The 2003 F5 sno pro was rated 118 HP I think. I maybe wrong. I do know the F5 has a different lower end and cannot be made into a 6 or 700. It is possible he did a motor swap. I always ask people to open the hood. I have seen 700's with big bore kits in F=5 chassis's

A couple young guys i ride with have the 07 f5s and see them top out at a buck all the time.I think that is pretty good for a 5.

That's mighty fine for a 500cc!!!! Anything is possible, Its all in the gears! Lol! Any sled can beat any sled, length matters too! What was the race? 0-60MPH???

There is a guy that runs around the lake with a older 600 chassis that has a 1000 tcat moter stuffed into it.He pisses off alot of people to say the least.

Here is an 04, f5 snopro and the hp is 104. Pretty good for a 500, but not the best hp for a 500.

Still , unless it were modded a bit, I don't think a f5 could do much to stay with a powervalved 700 triple, even with a single pipe.

totally depends on the year of the sled, the 03' f5 had around 105 hp and was pretty light. its a very quick 500cc sled and ive saw it beat 600cc sleds in the 1/8th mile repeatedly. if its a newer f5 then it has got the 80hp non-pv engine and its a dawg to say the least, very slow and not much acceleration.

I was shocked a few years back when I saw that not all f5's were PV'd. I realize the 80 hp ones are aimed at newbs, but cat should call it something else, not an F5.

I believe you about the PV'd ones taking bigger iron out. My little polaris 600 VES has smoked quite a few newer 700's and even a few 800 twins like the 00-02 or so mxz800's.
