Been reading the SRX reverse install post and I would like to know what a HYVO gear and chain are and how they differ from non HYVO....
How do I tell the difference?
I've installed reverse on both our sleds with parts coming from all over... Sure hope I haven't a mixture!!!!
Thanks....

It's the shape of the teeth. HYVO sprockets have teeth that are thicker at the top and more rounded, the chain is stamped to match this shape. Because of this, you must use matching sprockets and chain. If you see them side by side it's easier to tell the difference.
HYVO sprockets are stronger and last longer then the standard sprockets. Which is why Yamaha uses them on their higher horsepowered machines.

they will inter change by mistake. a hyvo chain will fit on silent chain gears(both will be destroyed later on ride)
hyvo is more efficient chain. silent chain under load tries to clime the gears. hyvo gears are cut straighter causing less outward force under load. sad but polaris use them first

what models started using them?... Is it correct to assume that an 02MM 700 still had "silent" chain and gears?
All of a sudden I feel a little anxious to sort this out..
Thanks..
