not trying to open a can of worms, but

has anyone noticed a drastic change in this oil from two seasons back? different color, different smell and viscosity at room temp...

has Yamaha gone to a better quality syn oil?... It's clearly a different oil with a higher price tag (of course)...

didn't want to hijack other thread... thanks TJ...

the old stuff was blue in color, very runny (poured easily in cold weather) and smelled like ammonia... this year it's golden in color, pours like molasses... clearly different oil here in Canada... maybe not yet in US...

just hoping it's better oil than it was... I may break down and buy Amsoil yet...

thanks tj

I just stick with my amsoil interceptor, I don't mind paying a few extra pennies for full syn. the srx seems pretty efficient with the oil too so its not like i'm out buying oil every few weeks. and with the random wisconsin weather, a whole gallon might last me a whole season. maybe two! :o| :o| :o| :o| :o|

was looking at a gallon my B/L had new from last year over christmas(working on his sled) and that looked the same,,runny greenish color.

going off there web site all looks/seems the same ol oil, there price on the 4 stroke stuff is really crazy,,for the full syn. i think they told me $12 0r 14 buck a qt!!!! wow..

don't get me wrong yamalube is fine you won't blow up on the side of the trail using it, i used it exclusively years ago but have now stepped up because of better performing oil's with less wear capability's on internals.

like i said in the other thread use what you think is best not what joe blow
is using. :)

I've used 2/3 of a 4 litre jug of Yamalube since I was off work on Wednesday for the holidays...

can you please share what you are paying for Interceptor in WI ?... Like to compare to what might be charged here in Canada... thanks tj

Its about 35 U.S dollars for a U.s gallon here, it varies by about 2-4 bucks depending on dealers around me.

do some hunting and you can get it cheaper,i have a bud thats a dealer
i get a steel on it...

be nice if you had some friends that all run it you could go in and buy a 16
gal keg or 30 gal drum and split it all up..

dude! if i could find a drum of that oil somewhere that would be money! it would last me forever.

Ive been running Yamalube 2-S in my 2-cycle power equipment (chainsaw, leafblower, string trimmer) and I havent noticed much of a difference.
If you are going to run 2-S, you might just as well buy Citgo Sea and Snow. Seeing as how Yamalube 2-S is made by Citgo and both oils are a synthetic blend, I wouldnt be surprised if its the same thing. Not to mention, Sea and Snow is about $8 a gallon cheaper than 2-S.
Not that there is anything wrong with 2-S, but IMO its not worth paying $8 more for it just because it says, "Yamaha" on the bottle.

i'd run it if it was readily available and cheaper money,it's 3 times the oil yamalube is,night and day difference. run the klotz if you can

I LOVE KLOTZ and have been running it since I was OLD ENOUGH to buy a quart of 2 stroke oil!!!!

Klotz has to be the best smelling oil in the world. If I was dieing and the last thing I could smell it would be Klotz oil burning. I still use Yamalube 2-S in all of the sleds. I found this year it is cheaper to buy by the case of quarts. I bought a case in Minnesota for $60.00 that is 12 quarts, which equals 3 gallons which is $20.00 gallon.
We will probably use upwards of 7 to 8 gallons this year of oil between the 3 sleds.
