I have a 1980 SRX but the frame # is different than what I have seen in the service manual. The Chassis # is 8K2-011451. The service manual says that they start with 8K6-015101. What's up with that. I also noticed that the stipes on the side of the hood and tunnuls are usually gold colored, Mine are red. What is the difference? Do I have something special?

You have a European model. How did you score that? There are pictures and info a few threads down currently.

The European 80 srx440 started with 8k6-15101. and the European 81 started with 8k6-16101. The only difference between those was the stripes and color at the frame: 80 had gold frame, with gold and black stripes, the 81 European did have silver frame and red and black stripes.
Strange that you have gold chassi and red stripes.

I do have the European parts manual for 81 srx, all the decals have number 8m3. I also have the European partsmanual for 80 Srx, there are the decals numbered 8k2.
There was some minor differences at European and US srx 440 (80)
Look at your skiis, the European did have a litle loop in the front of the skiis, if you see in the servicemanual at the first picture, you shall see the difference at the skiis.

I don't have the original skiis. At least I was told the skiis were not original. Any chances of getting a copy of the European parts manual from you arcticsrx500?
sounds like you have a European service manual and someone put 79 emblems on an 80.80 emblems probably wasnt available no more.post a picture of it.

You DONT have a European model, you have European Stripes. The Vin started at 8K2 in the US, and 8K6 in Europe.

I overlooked the vin he wrote. Still and odd combo. Like mentioned, someone may have tried to get replacement decals and manual and that is all Yam had.arcticsrx500 said:You DONT have a European model, you have European Stripes. The Vin started at 8K2 in the US, and 8K6 in Europe.
