I did this project Not to be "True to Yamaha Blue", but rather to keep the girlfriend wanting to ride!!!

Would like to hear some feedback as to what TY members think.

I have never posted pics so hopefully I did this right and they show up.

I like it too.
Now if you really want her to like riding better replace the no-action suspension.

Thanks, she has been riding my other Srx's that I have and she only weighs like 100lbs. soaking wet. So the suspension is staying as the seat is the primary suspension with her on it LOL!!!

She is trying to come up with a name for it to replace the decal on the trailing arms. Only thing left to do.

Looks good, Lots of work into it I see. looks like it might be loud with those Aeen pipes..=)
Did it for the girl.....ok.. lol.

you should have painted the belt/clutch cover that purplish color to, and the pipes would look awesome if you could get high heat paint in that color, the windshield would nice that color. But man thats an awesome looking sled, AAEN's on that thing must make it rip!!!

Thanks to many TY members input, the heads where actually sprayed with a duplicolor paint. I used a 3M scotch pad to scuff up the surface and a really good cleaning with paint prep solvent. The heat on the heads is not that excessive that you need heat treated paint. I have only ran it a little while when I had snow here, but constantly checked it for cracks and flaking. So far so good.

I had a very hard time matching the exterior parts with the engine parts. Everything on the suspension is powder coated in candy purple and could not get an exact match on the engine compartment. Also, TIP...the pipes were sanded down from original black and I used the flat black heat treated paint that you can buy at a hardware store. While the paint was still wet I sprayed a touch of metal flake base coat on them so it dried with the flat black. Hard to see in the pics, but the finish in person looks really nice.

i like it man, nice work! whats the benefit of running aftermarket triple pipes on a stock triple piped sled? noise? power? is that 3 seperate cans for it?

Noise, Weight loss....... that's all. They don't benefit much on the srx's apposed to other triples. (Mach z, T-cat ect.....)

As for the pipes that are on there...Long story short, had a quad that I traded for this sled and was really more interested in the low, low milage and the Ohlins. Pipes were on the sled when I got it and the "novice" owner knew nothing about anything and didn't have the stock pipes. When I started this a couple months back nobody had a nice set of stock pipes for sale so I decided to just leave these on for now. I called Aaen and checked with them for jetting...so why not try it.

I have had other pipes on my other srx's but the site is correct, stock is better.

As for power for a small person, she learned to ride on a XTC 600 and that sled is so heavy it was hard for her to ride long distances. I broke down and let her ride one of my SRX's for a few days and riding has never been better. Easier to steer, no complaining, and her telling me that the srx is the sled she likes the best. End of story. LOL
