Hey guys.

My 02 srx still is throwing a temp light, (7 flashes which indicates a servo related fault) and I noticed tonight when I play with the choke and get the rpms' up and below 900 rpm that the servo is squeeking pretty good as the drum rotates.

Is is typical for the servo to squeak as I am thinking / hoping the servo is whats causing the temp light issue as I am getting tired of trying to fix this issue. Sled running great otherwise.

I had this same 7 flash temp light last march, and found broken valve since then which I replaced and the temp light still hasnt gone away.

Thanks for any feedback.

I had the cover off and watched the drum rotate as I played with the choke. The motion is very jerky. I also put the sled on the jack stand last week and opened her up to 8000rpms and the motion seemed pretty smooth when opening. The sound is hard to describe but its more of whining sound.

new servo is 240.00, new cdi is around 400 so would like to guess right. Wish I had a friend with an srx. : )

srx

I actually havent diagnosed the harness yet because when I started to pull the harness, the section of the harness under the motor is inside a long thin metal channel so it didnt appear I could pull the connectors through. Others have said that an 02 srx should have had the wiring harness problem resolved.

thanks for your help. Will take another look at the valves themselves to be safe, make sure there moving freely, other than that, may have to take a chance on a new servo motor.

servo

Just got back from a 20 mile ride. This temp light goes away when I am riding and reappears only occasionally when I come to a stop when it idles down.

You guys will think I am crazy, but now the temp light blinks 6 times, and then repeats itself. I am of sound mind so don't think I can't count. : )

Sled showed the dcs light a couple times on wide open runs but its 0F here in Maine right now and I have stock 02 jetting so I dont think this is related to the temp light. I will change next week to 01 jetting.

flashes

I think the flashes are some type of morse code now telling me to sell the sled. : )

Actually, its still 6 flashes repeating itself.

You have to pull like crazy to get the harness to move out of those hooks...its a bunch of the tape that gets all jammed up in there......I pulled really hard, and it finally came loose.

I re-routed my wiring above the motoe now, ran it through the air box shroud on the front, and riveted it to the metal between engine and clutches...looks stock to be honest, and now I can easily check my harness whenever I want ;)

I'll take a pic of my harness under the motor tomorrow. Getting it through the bendable hooks is not the problem, its the long metal channel that keeps the harness in place that prevents me from pulling it up. Im guessing this metal channel was new to the 2002 model year.

Aha, thats sucks.....Im very suprised yammy allowed that harness routing in the first place

jack stand

M10,

the jack stand only wobbles a little at 8K rpm's as I stand with my head near the ervo watching it open up. : )

One piece of advice - always have a big field in front of you just in case. : )

good news and bad news

Well, good news and bad news.

Good news is my 6-flash temp light issue is behind me. Bad news is Im not 100% sure what the root cause was. : (

Ive ridden the sled twice now for short rides and it won't come on. : )

Siphoned gas yesterday and replaced with new fuel and temp lite would not come on last nite. The fuel in there was new 93 from last week so never thought that could be the source.

Today, I changed the main jets to the 2001 specs. Interesting to note, when pulling the carbs, the wire to the DCS broke at the connector about a foot or so from the knock sensor. Now, I'm wondering whether the DCS wire was partially broken as could it be a coincidence that this DCS wire broke so easily when moving the wires during pulling of the carbs.

May never know.

Thanks for everyones help.
