I have a 99' SRX 700, stock except for a MBRP can, 1 1/4" track. New to me this year. We just went out for a ride because it snowed just about a foot last night. I took my 2 kids and was towing them in the sleigh through a field, when my belt started squeaking and whacking. I stopped shut er down and opened it up and the belt was fine ?(Brand New Yamaha Belt) I let it cool down and went and it was fine? I was just putting around. It also happened two weeks ago when I was messin around in a snow covered gravel pit area. I was riding very aggressively. Is the clutch just overheating? Is there a remedy???????????? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
it all depends of the clutch set up but yes it look like your heating up the clutch

what is the wrap on the secondary at.Twist it a little tighter because belt may be slipping and creates heat.Especially if you were towing the kids on the bogon.

Sorry I don't know what the wrap is? Can you explain it better and I will try to figure it out and adjust it..Thanks
check your secondary clutch helix twist ...check the number they put the spring in it .....3+3=60 and so on

Could you have been getting snow/water on the belt and/or clutches? I've had similar problems when breaking trail with a Viper. Just a thought.

After you put the new belt on did you hear a sqweel??
putting around lugging the engine like that is not good on the belt/sled..

there are many factors to consider here.Is your belt in new condition,your primary and secondary springs,weight in clutch,secondary wrap(helix twist),
your center to center and off-set of the clutches.
Take your sled on hard pack and pin it,what rpm are you launching and at wot are you in the 8500 rpm range which is ideal.Do some hard runs and then check the clutches for how hot they feel.If one is more hot then the other,that will tell you that you need to change something.Make sure you are,and I STRESS>>> useing a OEM 8DN belt,not some crappy aftermarket belt.
Clutch alignment is very important and also check if the belt is the correct size(length) also.Many factors to consider.Do one change at a time and take some notes.
