I have posted this on another thread but trying to find someone who would know what 6 (not 7) flashes of the temp light means on an 02 srx.

I have looked at the diagnostic codes on the tech page and the only thing close is 7 flashes caused by servo motor malfunction.

When motor is cold, the temp light (6 flashes repeating itself) comes on only after several mnutes of idling. When riding, it goes away with rpm's when riding and comes back pretty consistently when rpms drop back down to around 2K.

Sled performance is right on except dcs coming on with wide open runs (stock 02 jetting). Switching to 01 jetting tomorow.

Will be takign another look at the wiring harness and power valves but they are clean and adjusted.

Thanks for any help..

i would call yamaha and talk to one of there techs ?the 02 wiring was fixed of rub through so yamaha says.when your dcs light comes on do you loose all your power ??

Holding it wide open, the dcs starts blinking slowly with no loss in power and then starts blinking faster at which point I lose power which sounds normal per my understanding of the dcs.

my 98 flashes 6 times when running 70 plus.....i belive 6 flashes has to do with hand warmers ...or actually the dial to adjust temp setting ...

dcs

Maybe I found it. Under the Viper diagnostics, it states 6 flash repeat is DCS knock sensor.

This sort of makes sense as my DCS has never been that sensitive untril late last year.

Time to replace the knock sensor I guess.

Discontinuity or shorting of knock sensor.I had the same problem with mine a few years back. The wire that connects to the knock sensor had a internal break.Check your wiring first idid the same thing and ended up with a spare sensor.
