What is the weight of the oil that goes in the chain case. Non of the dealers want to tell me because it will probably stop me from paying outrageous amounts for 500ml bottle. I believe in supporting my dealer but $12.00 for 500ml bottle of regular oil is robbery.

You can do a search for chain case oil on T.Y. and find about a 100 threads some of which say to use the oil spec'd for your sled, some say to use synthetic ATF and others will tell you to use standard 80-90 weight gear oil.
I use synthetic Mobil 80-90 weight oil in the chain case of my '99 SX and I got about 8,800 miles out of the first set of gears, bearings and chain.
Mills

use either synthetic gear lube or i use full syn chain case lube. i think its polaris brand. a quart i think was $8.00

Lucas 75/90 full synthetic gear lube works VERY VERY well for me. Have ya ever stood at the counter at O'reillys auto parts and turned the gears....one with plain ol lube and the other with lucas. Makes you a believer.

Yea it's called VII's(viscosity index improver's)oil thickeners!!!, that's all your getting,, Lucas products are a joke.

spend some time on these oil forums out there if ya need proof and check out the VOA's you'll be a "believer".

i see people buy this stuff and expect miracles in a can, when all it is is crap, yes just like MH but not as thick that stuff should be banned off the shelf, wow.

anyhow just purches a good known brand oil and go with it.

Amsoil

I asked a guy I work with that use to build and race late models at Kaukana and Norway. He said they used Amsoil in the rear differental and trans because it was lighter in weight. It actually weighs less so less weight to the car. How much I don't know but he said it was less. he actually weighed same amounts and it was lighter.

He wasn't sure but thinks they made a anti-freeze that weighed less than others too.

Is this ok ? Sounds like it.

I've been called a post whore so, I've tried to keep it genuine but it does get costly at my dealer, I have in front of me a bottle of Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube 1 QT 75W-90 LS, I use this in a 1994 chevy astro (AWD) It's in both diffs, Can I just use this instead of going to my sled dealer ?, Sounds fine but would still lke input, Trans fluid sounds good too but your gasket had better seal real good, Mine may not so I dunna no.
