How to adjust the powervalve cable ?

I bought my first sled a SRX600 1998 about one month ago, love the sled, I've notice that two of the powervalve cables are a little loose and one is leaking some oil, just wondering if I will need some new cables or is there a way to tight the cable ? T
Beside that problem the sled goes good, no problems at all, she revs good to about 8200-8300. Thanks guys.
 
more than likely, you will need to clean/adjust the valves on your sled. you will also probably need to put in new oil seals for the power valves, if the valve housings are leaking oil out the bottom of the little drain hole. also, for adjusting the cables, you need to loosen the jam nut, up by the servo motor, for whatever cable you are messing w/and turn the adjuster nut. when you pull the valve housings off, to get the valves out for cleaning, put in new gaskets. there is a section in the tech pages, that explains all this power valve cleaning and adjusting.
 
Thing is its not leaking oil from anywhere but from the cable cap at the end of it, its just not tight enough. I'll try to adjust it from the servo motor like you said and see how it goes. Anyone has a pic for how to adjust this ? Thanks guys.
I'll take a look in the tech section as mentionned to see if I can find it.

Edit: Well I found the thread on how to clean it so its probably what I need to do like you mentionned as when the cable is loose its a sign that its stuck. One thing that got me thinking is do I need power to the servo motor to adjust them, if so do I need to have the motor running while adjusting them. Thanks.

some guys use a power valve adjusting tool, that plugs into the wiring system and makes the servo motor go to the full open position, w/o the sled running, but you can have the sled idle at 900 rpm and the servo motor should go to full open position. you can make your adjustments then. turn motor off of course.
 
Thanks for the answers, I did a search before but it was only in this forum section so I couldn't find anything. Lots of excellent information on this site.
Btw how do I lower my idle to 900rpm for the adjustment ? Is there a service manual I can download online for my snowmobile ?

use the idle screw down on the carb rack.

replace part #31 and #27,#20 on that cable and it sould clean that oil leak up.

di you find the info on how to adjust??
 
Yes, I've check the info on how to adjust it, to remove the cables from the servo does it need to be at the open position or close, and to remove them how do I do it, I guess I need to give them some slack in some way. The screw for the wheel just wouldn't come off so I think I'll bring it to yamaha, there just about 200m from my home anyways.
Can I damage my engine to just drive it like that a little ?

shouldn't need to remove it from the servo,remove it from the pv,remove
cover turn servo pully CW to loosen cables then rmove PV and slide off valve
 
ok ok, so you remove the first cover, not the one on the head ? In the instructions they say to remove de cables as the second step so I figure I had to do it there.
So do you think I can damage my sled if I run it like that for a short period. The cables are not slack at the servo and I made the engine idle at 900rpm, with the choke on like someone suggested on another thread, just didn't let it die and it would turn good, it all seems to be good, its probably just that little part #31 that needs to be replaced.
I tried to remove it from the head but those screws are pretty tight and my little allen keys aren't just good enough to do the job, the one in the bottom right wouldn't move hehe.

Edit: I'm such a newb I should've post this in the SRX, Viper section damn haha.

Ok, I'll try that the next time, I'll just give Yam a call tomorrow and get that adjusted. If there valves were stuck I guess the cable wouldn't move much or would be loose so its probably not that, probably just the little part that needs to be replaced like previously mentionned.
