I rode my SRX on 2 different days this winter and it ran just great. I parked it one night, the next morning went out to start it, and...no spark.
Ignition switch and kill switch checked out fine.
NOW WHAT DO I CHECK, and how? CDI box? Is there a way to check them?
Also, I was told that the 2000 model year had a problem with the wiring harness up front by the steering mechanism, which can cause a no spark situation.
Anyone have any details on this?
I would appreciate any help I can get.

Lots to read if you do a search for 'harness rub' (without the quotes)

I would pull th harness from under the motor and check for bare wires. I would also check the Stator.
I never hear of CDI boxes going bad. The stator can OHM out good and still be bad so look for burnt spots.

My 2000 SRX had a similar issue and it was the pick-up coil on the stator. When checking the resistance there was infinite resistance indicating a break somewhere.

Which year harness is the same as the 2000?
OK, sounds like I am going to find bare wires. I understand a new harness from Yamaha runs about 300 bucks.
So..are any previous year SRXs interchangeable with the 2000? I have read other posts that say 2000, 01, and 02 are all different.
Thanks.
