Hey guys I was just looking to get some opinions on wich gearing to use on my 2001 SRX. I am running hard pack lake running alot and looking for some good top end. I have been testing with different gearing and weights. for weights I have stock weights and the 8BU-10 weights and I use bolts instead of rivets fo the weights. I tryed 4 different set ups and 4 different results using my gps. I also got the overdrive machined in the primary. Here are the gears I have for the sled. top I have a 23 and 22 and the bottom I have 38 and a 40. Any opinion is good.

these are the speeds I got with the different gearing Ive used. 23-38, 114mph....
22-38, 116mph.... 22-40, 113mph and thats on gps but its a long run on the lake.

Try a 24/37 if you have a 24 you can use.use a 68 link chain.

This ration takes alot of slack in the chain out and reduces rolling resistance and still gives very good MPH

yep. Because what happens is the engine has to work less and is able to pull the belt higher to the top of the primary. Also most sleds come overgeared from the factory.

I tried the gearing 23-40 today and managed to pull 112mph but I was over reving up to 8700 rpm's. I am going to change my helix and try it again, there's more to be gained.
