Ive browsed the charts and set ups other riders on the forum have run and was curious as to what springs, helixes, and weights they are referring to in the charts. The particular one I was interested in was one from a guy named Dick and it listed this for a 00 SX-R 700 Triple.

8AB-00 weights (41 grams?)

4.5 base
2.4 tip What are these referring to?

Y-G-Y Primary Spring (Stock?)

3900 approx engagement
8400 approx shift

52/43 helix (I cannot find a yamaha 52/43 helix)

Green Secondary Spring (Stock?)

60 (spring setting- What is it referring to?)

I have looked up the stock specs and I do believe (unless I looked at something wrong) the springs are to remain stock and just change the weights and helix to achieve this. Am I off? Im a lil tight with my pennies now and dont want to drop too much at once for over or undercompensating. Any thoughts?

Thanx

52/43 helix (I cannot find a yamaha 52/43 helix) This may be a typo but can't confirm. Yamaha has a 51/43

60 (spring setting- What is it referring to?) Spring wrap in the secondary. One end of the spring is in the #3 hole of the helix, the other end in #3 on the clutch

Thanks. No it's not a typo that I put in, but maybe what is in the chart. I was just trying to figure that out. I am assuming that all the settings in the charts are referring to stock yamaha replacements unless noted. Is that the right direction or am I off?

i see pioneer performance makes a 51/43 and a 53/43 helix. i would go w/the 51/43 for your setup. those rivets that get placed into the flyweights (8ab), can be purchased from yamaha, pioneer performance and other suppliers. here are the part #'s for the rivets:

4.5g rivet--90261-06033-00
2.4g rivet--90261-06015-00

i forgot to add, that the y-g-y spring, is your stock primary spring and so is the green secondary spring. you'll only need to purchase weights (8ab), 3-4.5g rivets, 3-2.4g rivets, and a 51/43 helix. the weights and helix could probably be found in the classifieds section of this site. hope this helps.

Yes thanks much. I prowled around some more and found Turk's suggested setup too. I ride pretty aggressively when Im ditchbangin and riding the fencerows around here so Im goin to change over to 3.1 rivets in the tip. Basically everything is the same, aside from needing either 2-3 engagement shims. Im planning to add 96 studs next year when I replace the track. Hopefully that will do the trick. Turk seems to know his schtuff so off to the garage I go.
